The
reason many young people join Scouting is for the adventure in the
outdoors
Troop 139 conducts a wide
range of activities. In early fall
we typically organize one paddling or rafting trip, a weekend camping trip for
rank advancement, and an outing with hiking as the main activity. In January, we attend the Klondike Derby – a
snow camping experience with other Yolo District troops. Before the snow melts, we head back to the
mountains for skiing and snowboarding.
Late winter or early spring sees us camping on the central or northern
California coast. In April we attend the Yolo
District camporee. At camporee we compete with other troops in various Scouting
events. During July and August we attend
summer camp. Troop 139 generally attends
one summer camp operated by the Golden Empire Council and a second “out of council”
BSA summer camp or high adventure activity.
